Seafloor video mapping: modeling, algorithms, apparatus

چکیده
This paper discusses technique used for construction of highresolution image mosaic from a video sequence and the synchronously logged camera attitude information. It allows one to infer geometric characteristics of the imaged terrain and hence improve mosaic quality and reduce computational burden. The technique is demonstrated using numerical modeling and is applied to video data collected on Rainsford Island, Mass. Calculation of the transformation relating consecutive image frames is an essential operation affecting reliability of the whole mosaicing process. Improvements to the algorithm are suggested, which significantly decrease the possibility of convergence to an inappropriate solution.

This paper discusses a proposed processing technique for combining video imagery with auxiliary sensor information. The latter greatly simplifies image processing by reducing complexity of the transformation model. The mosaics produced by this technique are adequate for many applications, in particular habitat mapping. The algorithm is demonstrated through simulations and hardware configuration...
متن کاملProcessing MBES Data to Detect Changes to Seafloor Topography
Performing precision monitoring for changes to seafloor topography is necessary to accurately examine the state of accidents of all sorts on the coast. Thus, this study proposed a new change detection technique to monitor changes to seafloor topography by systemizing the post-processing technique for MBES sounding data and 3D modeling technique. This study also applied the proposed technique to...

Digital image processing provides powerful tools for fast and precise analysis of large image data sets in marine and geoscientific applications. Because of the increasing volume of georeferenced image and video data acquired by underwater platforms such as remotely operated vehicles, means of automatic analysis of the acquired image data are required. A new and fast-developing application is t...
متن کاملOverview: Marine Habitat Mapping Technology for Alaska
Benthic habitat mapping has become the principal method for defining the distribution of benthic habitats, and indicating or predicting the distribution of marine organisms that are closely associated with these habitats. The method is heavily dependent on technologies, both at remote sensing scales for creation of seafloor maps and at smaller scales, mainly visual and sampling activities, for ...
